Dear Parent/Coaches,

As you are all no doubt aware, running a club like Leeds City Juniors is not a simple task.  In addition to countless hours of volunteer efforts by coaches, parents, and committee members, the club also requires funding to evolve into the club that we all know Leeds City Juniors can be.  In tandem with the subs that you all pay for your children to participate, it is essential that we collect additional monies through fundraising.  As a result, we several ideas in the pipeline and will be communicating these throughout the season.

One of our first events is to ask for clothes/textiles donations to raise funds through the Bag2School scheme.  Please see some information regarding this scheme below:

 

Bag2School was founded in 2001 and now works with over 20,000 schools in organising textile collections to raise money for school PTA's and clubs. The scheme is a free ‘off the shelf’ solution to fundraising and it encourages staff, pupils and parents to participate, producing maximum rewards with little effort. Every school has the same possibility to achieve excellent results.

Bag2School is a business (not a charity) and we specialise in collecting unwanted textiles in good condition which are then sold to export markets worldwide where they are sorted and then sold to the general public.

We operate throughout the UK and since 2001 have paid out over £11 Million to participating schools, colleges, nurseries, pre-schools, playgroups. In addition, we also work with cubs, scouts, brownies, guides and a whole range of sports clubs ranging from football clubs to martial arts, dance groups, horseriding clubs - the list is endless.

We pay the best market price possible and adjust this each term. We are currently paying £500 per tonne (50p per kilo) if you make two bookings during the same call. Please be aware that you can have your cheque made payable to any fund or charity you wish.

We have already had the bags delivered, and these will be distributed to each team in the next week or so.  As there are approximately 250 children in the Juniors section, this could amount to a fairly healthy fundraiser.  So, please start digging through all those closets and cupboards for our first collection, which will be on Monday, November 28th.  We will aim to collect all the bags in the container at Bedquilts closer to that date.  We are then pencilled in to do this again in May 2012.
